This “Watery Eden” is dominated by the majestic Apalachicola and Choctawhatchee rivers, and augmented by the Ochlockonee and Chipola rivers, and Ecofina and Holmes Creeks. The Chipola riverside alone boasts 63 freshwater springs, the largest number of any other site in Northwest Florida.
The watersheds contain nationally significant forests, with some of the highest biological diversity east of the Mississippi River, rivaling that of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Our rivers and creeks enrich three major bays - the Apalachicola, Choctawatchee, and Ochlockonee.
Bring your mask and snorkel to get a close-up look at the crystal-clear springs which dot our waterways.
Enjoy scenic views of our waterways or dive right in, our water landings are an excellent way to admire Northwest Florida's natural waters.
